Hi Diane, I see you recently rewatched Funny Ha Ha. I just did the same with Mutual Appreciation and was reminded how much I appreciate Bujalski's writing. Certain scenes in those films ring true in ways that many films have difficulty doing through dialogue.

You're absolutely right, John. I really need to rewatch MA now. This was my third viewing of FHH, and I was sharing it with a friend who had never seen it. It went over very well, and I'm happy that it's held up for me through so many viewings. Bujalski remains a favorite, and your comment about the truth in his dialogue is spot-on. I've never really lived a life like Marnie's, but I've been in some similar situations, and everything is captured just pefectly in that film--the shifting relationships between friends, the desire to speak but not being able to, the frustration of not having the type of relationship you want (shown so perfectly by the simple act of dropping a beer bottle off a deck). Boy, am I ever eager for a new Bujalski film.

I don't know how to sign on as "Christian" any longer, so I'm using my OpenID thingy.

Gotta hear your thoughts on "My Brother's Wedding," which, you probably know, was my favorite film from last year. I've yet to watch the longer cut on the "Killer of Sheep Collection" DVD, but that shorter cut really grabbed me.

Feel free to disagree with me. It's your blog, after all.

Christian--hi! Comments are forthcoming when things settle down a bit. I have a new job at work that keeps me busier than ever before. But thank you for your post!

Appropo of nothing, I was thinking about posting on my blog about our long-running thread about movies we'd watched, but it appears Sidewalk has deleted that thread from its messageboard. Haven't done anything about the spambots, though.

I feel so ... abandoned. You've moved on to the next month's Film Journal post.

I still plan to watch "My Brother's Wedding," which I have on the "Killer of Sheep Collection" DVD, but despite my eagerness to purchase that set, I haven't watched.

I have, however, taken the shrink wrap off. Does that count for something?

I should clarify that I plan to RE-watch "My Brother's Keeper" soon.

I also left an "it" off the end of the second sentence.

And "shrink-wrap" needs a hyphen.

Sigh.

I'm sorry, Christian! I do apologize! Life's been so crazy--still is. And I'm on deadline today.

I will say I loved My Brother's Wedding, though.

There's nothing like correcting a comment, then making another blatant error within the correction. "My Brother's Wedding," "My Brother's Keeper" -- what's the difference? :)
